Women’s Empowerment is a systematic and planned effort to achieve gender equality and justice in family and community life. Empowerment of women “as human resources, the potential that women have in terms of quantity and quality is not below men. But in reality it is still found that the status of women and the role of women in society are still subordinate and not yet as equal partners with men. And there are 3 topics that emerge in empowering women.

First, Women in Decision Making. The role of women in decision-making continues to shift, so that efforts to lift the  dignity of women to be equal to men, have not yet fully materialized. Empowering women is a demand for human rights. Especially education from the developing generation is largely the duty of women, because she is the one who guides the child in the first steps in life. The progress of a nation or a country is inseparable from the role of women. Reality shows that efforts to increase women’s participation in development have not yet achieved optimal results. This is evident from the study of cases circulating in the community, especially in Bali, women are not able to express their feelings directly, as if there is a sense of fear in their minds. As an example of a polygamy case which in the past year has shocked the Kubu community. Where “Darmawan”, one of the villagers in Kubu, Kubu sub-district, Karangasem regency decided to be unilateral for polygamy. But in reality the wife “Darmi” was not given the opportunity to make decisions for the continuity of their lives. After a year of polygamy Ms. Darmi lives stressed out , then she divorced without obtaining her rights. From this case we can conclude that the role of women in making decisions has not run optimally. Therefore we need some understanding of the role of women. Every human being has human rights, where every human being has the right to make a decision. So that people are required to respect each other, and no less important is to provide opportunities for women to argue or make their own decisions without coercion. This aims to minimize similar cases.

Second, Promoting women economic empowerment. Women’s empowerment has an effect on improving the economy in Indonesia. This is not just nonsense, because based on data from the Mckinsey Global Institute, Indonesia will become the country with the seventh largest economic level by 2030, and one of the conditions is to increase women’s empowerment in the economic sector. “Empowering women in business should not be seen as an obligation, but how business people can make it as part of a strategy that supports businesses in their core activities and their respective supply chains. Helpless women are believed to be able to provide more business benefits. Data shows that companies with the most female managers can generate 34% higher profits according to research from McKinsey in 2014. The promotion of economic empowerment woments not only develops in urban areas but also in remote areas where women have taken over. . As we know gender differences will not be a barrier in developing the economy, this is proven by Ms. Megawati being able to become the first female President in Indonesia, besides that several ministries are occupied by strong women like Ms. Susi Pudjiastuti as Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. Besides that, it is equally important to increase the promotion of women economic empowerment especially in Bali, from “Ni Luh Jelantik”  the famous  Hand Made shoes businessman to foreign countries. It can be concluded that the main objective is to help promote gender equality and empower women to get a clear understanding of the situation of women’s empowerment in the workplace, market, and community in Indonesia.               The last, ending the violence against women. March 8 is always celebrated as International Women’s Day. It is not easy to be a woman, let alone the opportunity to fight for equality of rights and gender equality, to do everyday things such as walking in public spaces without facing harassment alone can be a challenge in itself. In Indonesia, violence against women must be immediately taken seriously to reduce it. Because, from year to year, according to Komnas Perempuan’s records, sexual violence is still the most terrible thing in the list of cases of violence against women. For example, five years ago (2014), out of 3,860 cases of violence against women in the community, there were 2,183 cases of sexual violence in the form of rape, molestation, sexual abuse, and forced intercourse. While the violence cases themselves escaped the law. And if this is not handled properly in the future, it does not rule out the possibility of repeated violence. Especially in Bali the level of violence against women is still considered to be very high, especially in cases of domestic violence. As an example of a case that shocked the citizens of Bali in September 2017, “Ni Putu Kartini became the victim of a leg cut by her husband” by reason of being jealous blind. So it can be concluded that the protection of women in Bali is very weak. Therefore understanding is needed to prevent such violence. One of the first steps is literacy towards education for women to prevent and overcome violence against women.

So it can be concluded that the goal of empowering women is increasing the position and role of women in various fields of life, increase the role of women as making decisions in realizing gender equality and justice, improve the quality of women’s organizations and maintain the value of unity and compliance, increasing the commitment and ability of all institutions that believe in gender equality and justice, and developing women’s empowerment efforts, family and community welfare and child protection. but its implementation is still classified as very weak and not in accordance with the state minister’s regulations on women’s empowerment and child protection of the Republic of Indonesia No.1 of 2010.
